Become a Volunteer Responder
Residents can help save lives by registering on the GoodSAM app.
GoodSAM alerts trained volunteers who are willing and able to respond if someone nearby is experiencing cardiac arrest.
This means help can arrive before the ambulance.
How It Works
-
Someone calls 000
-
Ambulance dispatch identifies a cardiac arrest
-
Nearby GoodSAM responders are alerted at the same time Ambulance is dispatched
-
Responders can provide CPR and AED support
Who Can Join?
If you are 18 years or older and willing and able to perform CPR, you can help save lives by signing up to GoodSAM and downloading the GoodSAM app.
It’s important to sign up with GoodSAM first, before downloading the app.
The GoodSAM app will send you an alert when someone nearby needs you to perform CPR while paramedics are on their way.
You can choose to accept or decline an alert. If you accept, the app will tell you where to find the patient and the location of nearby Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
While prior CPR or AED training is not required under GoodSam, there will be training sessions.
