Helping Our Community Save Lives

Introduction
HeartHelp Carwoola is a community initiative to improve survival from sudden cardiac arrest in our area.
The program brings together:
-
Publicly accessible defibrillators (AEDs)
-
Community CPR training
-
Volunteer responders through the GoodSAM app

Because Carwoola is a rural community, ambulance response times can vary. When cardiac arrest occurs, the people nearby are often the first to help.

By learning CPR, knowing where our AEDs are located, and joining GoodSAM, local residents can make a life-saving difference.

What is Cardiac Arrest?
Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating effectively.
Without treatment:
-
brain damage begins within 4–6 minutes
-
survival decreases 10% every minute

Early CPR and a defibrillator can dramatically improve survival.
How HeartHelp Works
HeartHelp Carwoola focuses on three things:
-
Community AEDs: Defibrillators are installed at key locations across Carwoola.
-
CPR Training: Local residents are offered CPR training so more people know what to do in an emergency.
-
Volunteer Responders: Residents can register with the NSW Ambulance GoodSAM app to be alerted if someone nearby needs help.
